Always True - Promise1: God is always with me

2 Peter 1:4

  • God's promises are exceedingly great and precise promises (self described by God).

2 Corinthians 1

  • God's promises bring up great comfort.

  • v7 We were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed we felt we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves, but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril and he will deliver us. We have set our hope that he will deliver us again.

Psalm 145:3 You do not have a clue how great God is.

Jeremiah 32:27 Is anything too hard for the Lord?

How do you survive a dry period and not give into despair?

  • Walk by faith, not by sight.

  • Review his promises. Keep them nearby. They're our life blood. God remembers that we are dust. Faith is hard for us, so he left us his promises.

What do God's Promises cover?

  • Fear and Doubt

  • Despair

God's promises are the best. Better than:

  • Human wisdom

  • White knuckled obedience

  • Wallowing in self pity

Fear is a universal problem. It is never planned for, it just comes across us. It comes up 920 times in the Bible. One of the most common problems in Scripture.
One of the most common messages from God and His messengers is Fear Not, Do Not Fear, Do Not be Afraid.
Gen 21:17 Harah was afraid of watching Ishmael die

The problem isn't when fear visits, it is when you allow it in and nuture it. Fear is the complete state of Anti-God. God is seldom further from you when your heart is full of fear.

Anger, Doubt, Greif have a place in our lives. Fear has no place in the life of a Christian.
2 Timothy 1:2 God has not given you a spirit of fear
Romans 8 God has not given a spirit of bondage again to fear

Fear is addictive, it is a bondage.

How do I deal with fear? With Faith. Faith in the promsies of God.
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from the love of money, do not let your security be in things. Be content with what you have. God has said I will never leave you or forsake you. So we can confidently say The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man can do to me.
